i saw SAW :)

Look Right, Look Left...

Remember how we were always told not just to mug up the stuff presented to us, but to understand what it signifies.
While, we may try doing that with our studies, we sometimes try to make do with plain and simple mugging up in real life. I was guilty of that on one count as I found out today.
"Look right, then left, then go." That's how we always cross the road, ain't it??? The idea is to look for vehicles before embarking on ur road-crossing journey. When I came to Ottawa so many people had told me to remember that they drive on the right side of the road here and I used to give them a knowing shrug, thinking in my mind "Ya I know dude, I'm not eight anymore."
But today on my way to office, after I got down from the bus, I did exactly the same thing. Looked right, no vehicle, so I started. And then I heard the sounds of the brakes. A big SUV had stopped bcoz of me, and the person driving it was not amused. I pre-empted his tirades with a string of apologi…

Wet tyres...

When I was a kid we normally used to go for a trip to my native village 2-3 times every year. The mode of transport invariably used to our family car, me in the front seat cuddled in my father's lap, and others adjusted somewhere in the back (that's the great thing with amby, everyone fits in).
Since the jorney was a long one (not too much because of the distance, but because of the bad roads and traffic), we used to start very early in the morning, something like 3 or 4 am, so as to cover as much distance as possible before the traffic piled up. That meant that none of us kids were actually awake when we started and we woke up only when we'd covered a good distance.
That was not too much true for me, I used to wake up pretty early to a sound that I like very much. It is not some great or extra-ordinary sound but I don't know why it made me feel good. On an empty wet road, when a heavy vehicle passed the tyres make a strange zzzooom sound that I cannot describe in words.…

BIG plane

For the first time in my life I travelled in a BIG plane. Apart from the initial excitement it did not make too much of a difference, economy is the same everywhere ;) photo courtesy: Lufthansa website

Wanna hitch a ride...??

Definitely one of the most engaging books that I read, and certainly not one of the better movies that I saw.
Some literary works are better left untouched...
P.S. I know this is not a picture I have clicked, but it does appear pretty interesting to me :)

Long time...

since I saw a it is.

Found them looking for food near my office today. As soon as I tried to get friendly they flew away :(

3 wise monkeys

I am not sure if it is at all possible to follow what these monkeys preach. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to try...

Laughing Buddha

Heard that he brings good luck to those who gently rub his stomach. Wanna try???

Sleep glorious sleep :)

It's a lazy Saturday morning, you wanna sleep till you get bored of it. But someone reminds you that you have to go to work today coz you already had an off day when the state was bandh because of some activists (2 weeks ago).I was in the process of pulling the blanket up to my eyes when Rahul took this pic. On a different note, covering myself from head to toe in a blanket makes me feel a strange sort of immunity, only to be topped by a loving hug :)

The new look...

Did you get a chance to take a look at this???
I don't think you would have been able to avoid this except if you kept your eyes and ears closed at all times for the last few days. It's all over the place: TV channels, news papers...web.
This for me signifies the birth of a new and disturbing trend, that of over-hype and media frenzy ensuring a good earning for a movie even before it is released, content be damned.
The steps are simple:
Get some big names to sign on the dotted line (enough to create a buzz about the movie).Get a good team to create the teasers/promos for the movie.Feed stories to the media at regular intervals. They don't have to be true, just need to keep the movie name in public mind.Get some news channel to cover everything about your movie (a news channel had a half hour capsule on the making of the song "Where's the party tonight?" from Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna" )Put half as much effort in making a good movie as you have made in steps 1-4…
