The lone ranger

Saw a person riding a unicycle...this pic does not really reflect how good he was. Also, this is not very clear since I used my phone to click this.

Santa Claus is coming to town

I used to see the Santa's chair in Archie comics and used to wonder if these still exist. Well they do :)
P.S. I had a strong desire to sit on this but it was not allowed :(

Dhoom 2 : Movie review

It is the middle of nowhere (said to be a desert in Namibia) and our hero has just swiped the precious crown of the precious queen of...wait they did not tell that!!! He had left a few questions unanswered. Like:
How the hell did he manage to put on the disguise while on top of the train? How did he come out of the train compartment containing the crown (he did not come out from the door and if he had some other way of coming and going then he would not have needed a disguise in the first place)? How do you stop loads of bullets fired by supposedly elite guards using a, hold your breath, skateboard? The guy who finally managed to shoot him did so using a bow and arrow...I don't even know what I should ask here!!!At the end of this literally unbelievable and amazing robebry, the credit rolls start for Dhoom 2. Me and my friends brace ourselves. It was with great expectations and high hopes that we had come to see this movie, this was one of those for which we were waiting for long. So…

Man's best friend

Seems like dog walking was one of the most popular past-times for the people in Kingston :)
Photographs again from Arijit.

The ferry ride

While in Kingston, we rode a Ferry to Wolfe island with our car on the ferry. This was a new experience for me. My car is not seen in this pic.

Sunset from the ferry

Does this look like someone's desktop??? I'll say yes...this was taken by my friend Arijit on our trip to Kingston.

Quote Unquote

Saw Say It Isn't Soyesterday. Nothing much to write about in the movie, but it had a couple of quotes that I found worth putting here.

Quote 1 "There are no lonely places, only lonely people."
Quote 2 "Love may be blind but it can still smell the money." :p

Had my second real brush with snowfall...the good thing this time around was that I was at home and could go out and come in at liberty :)
The car that we had rented was not so lucky :p

DON : Movie review

Ok I know this is really really late but I had this post lying somewhere on my comp and I thought why not post it!!! So here it is.
Saw the SRK DON this Friday(this was the Friday that the movie was released)...saw a daytime show on a Friday after a long time :)
The movie was decent, general timepass. SRK critics will agree that after a long time he tried to do something different from his KJ type movies, and did it well also.
I for one do not think that comparisons with the original are justified, there's too much time difference and too many facts that won't let it be an objective comparison, so I for one, am letting it be. I saw a movie, period. And at least the makers in this case had the courtesy to take the permission from the man who made the original (which is more than I can say for so many of our talented directors).
The movie was pretty predictable in the first half, and had a few twists in the second half. The twists I felt were necessisated by the fact that everyone k…

The lessons

Ok, another post inspired from The Wonder Years :)
In the episode Our Miss White, Kevin finds himself attracted to his teacher Miss White. He is sure it is love from both sides, in his words "It is something which exists but is too far-fetched to survive in the real world", and  the only reason both of them hold back is because of the society. He is heart-broken when he finds that she has a boyfriend, but is not able to be sad for a long time because at the same moment he realizes that he has made his dad very very proud, and that takes his mind off everything else for a while.
There were traces of the movie Mera Naam Joker in this episode, I don't think this is a case of the director being inspired. They were similar because that is the way the story of most of the young kids go (except for the making Dad proud part). You fall in love with your teacher, you think that she also feels the same way, your feelings grow stronger and stronger until one day the truth dawns on yo…

Chand nahi chhupa badal me :p

Except for the eyes, pretty hard to tell that he is lifeless!!!

Got to see a penguin

First time I saw real live penguins, though they were not on some snow capped mountain, but inside a cage :(

This is where it's at

Man!!! you have to see it from inside to believe it :)

From mild to wild...

First time I saw an adult store...and thankfully, it was not in some dingy by-lane but in a prominent shopping complex. And people were not unduly bothered about who was watching them go in or come out.

Mujhe mar jaane do...

My company is getting too much for Rahul... DON ko jhelna mushkil hi nahi...namumkin hai :p

Main Hoon DON!!!

This was my first Diwali away from home and I was thinking that it will be a real bad one. As it turned out it was not that bad, it was one diwali I would like to have in my memories :) Remember the guns we used to have when we were kids...they used to be my bro demonstrates just how.

The Wonder Years

Have been watching a lot of The Wonder Years lately :)
Though I have not yet reached the final season, I got a glimpse of how the series ended when I was reading about it on Wikipedia. Thought of sharing it with you.
Here it is.

Dad's office

I was watching an episode of The Wonder Years with my roommate today. It was the episode where Kevin's dad takes him to his office to show him what does he do. By the end of the episode Kevin is able to better understand why sometimes his dad comes home all gruffy and why he is so hard on them sometimes, also why he always tried to soothe himself by watching the stars using his telescope for hours.
The episode seemed to be related to me somewhere. I also used to accompany my father to his office sometimes as a kid and was at a total loss to understand what he did before those trips. Not that after that I knew it pretty well, but still I got to know some things.
Kevin was very impressed by the fact that his father is in a position to give orders to others, even though he did not get a word of what he was saying. I used to feel the same sense of pride when I realised that my father is a boss for so many ppl (it helped matters that I never got to meet his boss :) ) and also that he is …

The daily struggle...

Everyday, crores of ppl in the world pass through a number of struggles as a part of their daily life. That might be something simple and unimportant or something on which the survival of the person itself depends. I am still not sure in which catagory should I put my new daily struggle, so I'll let you decide.
The thing is that the house that I am currently putting up in does not have the facility of mixed water comin out from the shower, and there is no India style tap to facilitate making use of a bucket. So the water is either freezing cold or boiling hot, take ur pick. Well I didn't need to think much on that count; the sub-zero temperatures outside made the decision for me, boiling water it is.
The next point is that we have to shower while standing in the bathing tub with utmost care that the water does not spill too much on the bathroom floor coz that is very delicate (yeah my landlord has got a bathroom floor that can't stand too much water :p). So while the shower …

There really is no business like show business....

Where else can you get paid for thinking and demonstrating the most novel ways to kill people?? In as gross a manner as possible!!
I saw the movie SAW 3 yesterday and it was gross (this does not necessarily mean bad), the storyline was ok and the premise and the suspense element were well maintained. Just that some of the scenes were too explicit, which I think was not required for the story also (yeah sometimes it is required).
The writers must have had a hard time because in my opinion, they already had used up a huge number of ways in the first 2 movies and one couldn't help but wonder if they would be able to come up with as good new ones, but they did.
Although there were some loopholes in the movie, it will not be possible to discuss them without giving away the story. So maybe at a later date.
