I Must Go Down to the Sea

Imustgodowntothe seas again, tothe lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,

Single's Day

I have been informed that today is single's day. Apparently it falls on 11/11 every year and gives a chance to singles to celebrate their singlehood.

I am surprised how come the greeting card manufacturers have not yet utilized this idea. So far I have only heard of single (possibly desperate) guys drowning their happy single faces in loads of booze; not that they need a special day for it anyways.

Anyways, why this little piece of information was given to me was because, apparently, this is my last single's day as a single. So any ideas on how to celebrate it are welcome :)

Time Warp

Invariably since the time I have moved out of Lucknow (actually before that also), one of the best and most relaxing times have been with my school friends. It is with them that I stay in a time warp, and I kind of like it there. These are 2 pics from my most recent trip to Lucknow...where, surprisingly, 10 of us were able to meet up (we have a gang of 17)...and it was fun (not so much for the poor Barista staff).

Square Root of Three

I fear that I will always be,
A lonely number like root three.
A three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight?
Beneath a vicious square-root sign?
I wish I were a number nine.

For nine could thwart this evil trick,
With just some quick arithmetic
I know I'll never see the sun,
As 1.7321

A sad irrationality.

To form a number we prefer,

As much as I’d like to say that this is a composition of mine, I’d have to divulge  that this is a poem used in the movie Harold and Kumar escape from Guantanamo Bay, it is recited by Kumar near the end of the movie. Though his girlfriend says it is lame; I think it is awesome.

That was easy

Long back I'd said that I am trying to move to a piracy-free life. Well I did realize that is mighty difficult but my efforts are ON.

One of my friends, who has no competition for the crown of "PIRACY KING" recently bought an original music CD (soundtrack of the movie Rock ON)...and the reason was that in the end credits of the movie the producers had asked the viewers to not download the songs but buy the music CDs in case they like the music. I didn't know it was that easy on the part of the film industry to curb music piracy. Simple 2 step procedure:

Ensure you create good music
appeal to the music fan inside the music pirate.

It may not work on all of the people; but hey, something IS better than nothing...isn't it?

I'd mentioned long back that I want to watch 'Sivaji The BOSS' no matter what. Well all my attempts to find a tranlator patient enough to sit with me and explain the movie to me proved futile.

But bless those souls who decided to come out with a DVD of Sivaji, complete with English sub-titles. Even though I missed on the essence of the dialogues, that was way way better than missing the entire movie.

Mission accompolished :D

Love Songs - Yesterday Today and Tomorrow: Movie Review

All those who know me know that I am a movie buff, that I am ready for a movie at any time of the day, at any point in my personal/professional/social life, with (almost) anyone.
So when I think that there is some movie which even I can’t watch then that more often than not means that the movie is a total disaster.
Well yesterday I found out that there is one more rung which is lower that the ‘total disaster’ category; it will henceforth belong to the movies which made me fall asleep midway. Adjacently placed will be movies from which I walked out. The movie ‘Love Songs – Yesterday Today and Tomorrow’ has the distinction of belonging to both these categories.
There is nothing further I need to add to this review I feel J

The real pleasure...

No matter how much (or how little) I pay for the airline ticket when I am traveling; the real kick (or paisa vasool if you want to call it that) for me is the small Imli Ke Daane that the air-hostess brings when we start :)

Note: happens only on Air-Sahara (now JetLite which I have given up for good) and Indian Airlines.
